well, I've found keeping the devices associated with the cam works better, and at least to me is more aesthetically pleasing.
The problem isn't where they're located, but the fact that the "cam_message" part of the page (not to be confused with the messages window) takes up the space between the cam and the icons. Here lies all the text and links related to the cam, the capture, # of watchers, popup, pan/tilt, driving controls, etc. However, as you've no doubt noticed, there is a lot of dead space, because I spell out most of the actions and don't utilize the unused whitespace on each line.
If I were to use a single icon for each of the actions, as well as isolate the typical actions on one side and the cam
controls on the other, it would cut way down in the amount of space that's being used. However, that might make things less readable. I'd need some way to let people EASILY understand what each icon represents... including those users who don't even notice the icons.
Of course, feel free to design me a theme or give me a layout that might work better.
